As a train nut I intend to go to Crossroads Village and Huckleberry RR down near Flint. They have a narrow gauge steam train that gives a ride for about 8 miles through the countryside. Check out the Genesee County Parks for info online. It is probably a 20 minute ride from the park. I used to take my Grandchildren there for Christmas every year when we lived near there and will have a Granddaughter with us in June.

Plus for the shop-a-haulics there is the outlet mall down in Birchrun Lots to do in the area for sure.

I think you are going to have a problem. Unless you are going to blindfold her on your way to the rally. Signs all over the place advertising Birch Run Outlet mall and Bronners.
