I just wanted to update this thread. We were at the minneapolis camper show and talked the owner. They added a second pool and playground. He also mentioned he is going to add a big sand box and BMX track. The BMX track is a big seller for my son.

We have 74 days until we are camping there. We are really excited for this next season. We saw the park grow last year with them adding those 50 new sites. It will be cool to get them filled up and people using them...

At the MN RV show, we found one that is north of the twin cities, in Askov MN- I believe that was the name of the city. I'll have to check my literature.I can't recall the name of it, but if anyone goes there this year (Its new this year), let us know what its like!

travelin4,
The new one in askov is called countryside. If I remember correctly that is where we are going on Memorial day. I'll try to remember to stop back and update update this post after we visit there. If I forget feel free to send me a message.

Try going up to Ely, MN - where the road ends. We have stayed at Fall Lake Campground which was wonderful! Lake to swim in, hiking, fishing, boating, etc. Sites are some what private and all new shower/toilet facilities that are wonderful! This lake is connected to the BWCA by portage. Very nice place to visit.

Our vote is for state parks, our son is never bored... one thing we started last year was on hikes he got to bring a disposable camera to take pictures on his hikes. He has had some really neat pictures and a few interesting ones too. Bewteen the hiking, fishing, swimming and just hanging out and playing games with the family our day can be pretty full. Most of the campgrounds in State parks have playgrounds too. Our personal favorite is probably Cascade state park
near Grand Marais and Lutsen on the north shore of Lake Superior.

I remember as a kid my family stayed often at COE campgrounds, specifically the Cross Lake one and I loved it. My kids now love the COE campgrounds (Cross Lake and Big Sandy) so we do most of our camping there. They are much like state parks with big spaces and somewhat rustic camping, but with great amenities I think. You don't need pools when you have nice beaches to swim at and my kids prefer the lake beach anyway. Nothing like a nice campfire with the kids at night while not being parked on top of the camper next to you.
My kids also love the RV Park at the Hinckley Grand Casino. Nice pool outdoor and also one indoor if the weather is cold or rainy. The price is also very reasonable.
