Brief biogaphy of "OLD FELLA"
From: Dixie Flyer
Labor Day weekend of 2005 wasn't one of your ordinary camping trips. It was that weekend that a lame stray showed up at the Daniels campsite begging for food. "It was those eyes that kept haunting me", Richard Daniels said as he typed his question on the Pet Health thread which is now Pet Stop. The question was simple. "Should I go back and get him, or let nature take its course?" That was almost two years ago and now that old dog that you see in the above picture has changed and touched America's heart.
Since that weekend Old Fella has inspired many an article in newspapers across this land and because of him an incredible journey began for a three legged dog name Anna II this past May which was reported on several NBC Television stations as she crossed the United States from Georgia to Spanaway, Washington to her new home.
Anna's Journey {GA to Washington State}
Todate there has been two rallies for Old Fella to celebrate this old dog's legacy. Last year in Branson Missouri and recently in Colorado Springs Colorado. The Eastern Old Fella Rally will be held at Four Paws in North Carolina in August this year. Old Fella is the founder of a rescue mission in Burke Georgia with plans to build a no kill shelter located in Waynesboro, Georgia.
To see Old Fella today is to marvel at this old dog's will to life against insurmountable odds and to become the icon for all strays who have hope of becoming someone's beloved pet. Come to Branson, Missouri next June 4-8 and help us celebrate this old dog's life as he continues to change lives and make dreams come true.

Hello everyone,
Ted and I arrived back home Sunday, safe and sound, from Colorado Springs (2007 Old Fella Rally). The fur kids where ready to come home. We had lots of fun and enjoyed everyone's hospitably. A very nice and easy to get to know group.
I talk to ABC Campground in Branson today . The dates are open
(June 4th to 8th)for 2008 and no contract is needed. However, it's important to call with your $25 deposit to hold reservations as soon as possible. For every 10 to 25 reserved spaces, we get 2 hours of shelter. .... 26 plus then another additional 2 hours of shelter and so on.
They also have different packages for entertainment and dinner catered for a fee. I've see their hillbilly show and it was very good.

I have a suggestion. In the coming months, there will probably be quite a few people who "stumble" across this topic just browsing the Rallies, Shows and Gatherings forum. Some might be interested in the time and place of our rally, but don't have a clue as to what an "Old Fella Rally" is. Maybe they'll think it a bunch of old fogies getting together to go see Andy Williams or something, I don't know.
Anyway, maybe it might be an idea for somebody (Richard) to write a brief synopsis of the history and purpose of the Old Fella Rally and stick it up front in this topic. Susan, you could edit it into your first post so people can see it right away.
I think this would be better than just referring them to the "A Very Old Stray" topic. I don't think most people interesting in attending a new rally are going to take the time to read the whole thing to see what it's all about.

I think Walter has something. It might just draw more attention to the rescue and adoption of wonderful furkids.

To add to Walter's idea, I think you must include a picture of Old Fella. Most people look at pictures before they read articles. The picture of Old Fella looking at Dixie Flyer would be my choice.
Susan, maybe this may sound like a dumb question, but what is "shelter" referring to?

I tried to register today and the girl that handles that at ABC is away to CA on an emergency. So will have to do it later.
I think someone should contact Springfield TV before next rally (Someone that can tell the Old Fella story and has all the links for Old fella).....
They have a channel 3 KYTV I think and a channel 10.
They have some other PBS stations but don't know what they are called.
