I have an A&E awning that needs to be re-installed after being repaired at the local canvas shop. I think it is the 9000 model that is on a 1995 class C Tioga Montera. I am fully capable of installing it, I just need directions for the proper spring loading of the tube. Does anyone have the info to perform this task or must I contact a dealer or Dometic for these instructions.
Regards,
Clindell

Clindell, be very careful with those springs; they can do a lot of damage if not secured properly. Your owners manual should have info on how much to tension the roll. If not, call A&E for their instructions. Good luck, Chuck.....
clindell, Did you ever find out how to put the proper tension into the torsion springs. I have the same problem with mine. I also had a tear repaired and when I took the torsion springs out of the roller tube, the springs unwound. Now I don't know what/how to get them wound easily or with the right tension. If you found out how to do it, will you please share it with me?
Did that twice! Be very careful, one slip and it can break a hand or arm. Usually it`s one turn per ft. of awning, but if you hang another awning on the tube for side shade may take 1 or 2 more turns. For 20ft. or longer call factory. Take the end off that doesn`t have lock on it, should have grove in it to take off and put awning back on. You have to unbolt the bracket from the top of MH to slide awning back to take off. You will notice that the gutter trim is a short piece from the back of MH towards the awning I didn`t take this off for you have to caulk and watertight this going back on. I used a small grinder and widen the grove so it would let the awning feed off and also to feed back on, not noticable from the ground. Be sure that you put a good caulking in holes before you bolt back on. I used 2 stepladders and visegrips on the end and slowly unwound it, count the turns for each end has to be equal. Becareful
Hi
Here is a link from the RV Corner Website regarding awning installation/adjustment:

As others have mentioned, be careful when tensioning the springs.
I just put new fabric on mine, it's a two step, and had to take 11 turns on each side to have it work properly. The factory says "begin with eight turns of preload". Just be careful that ome doesn't get away from you. Chuck....
