Hi all: (PGK_SYKES & HORNET28BHDS)

Trip has always been schedule for June 5,6th time frame, at least in last
month or so..... and the time is here. Well, in a few days.

I have been fighting a chest cold for a week and have not put effort into prep work yet.....
Also, family members staying with my wife delayed their arrival time and waiting for that to happen before serious prep will happen.
But, it I should be leaving within next ten days.

I will post as I travel. It (posting) will be limited, but I'll try to keep ya informed.

Looking forward to hearing about your adventures as you travel north, so post as often as you can. One place you might add to your itenerary is Liard Hot Springs - good place to take a break and soak and get rid of any aches and pains from sitting so long! Beautiful area, too.

Hey, this is a great thread! I am anxiously awaiting news about your trip. Do you travel with your wife and or pets? We are leaving in a week for Florida with a 7 year old lab, 9 year old daughter, and 5 year old son. We will be gone 16 day and this will be our longest trip to date. I will definitely be checking back to see how your travels are going. Best of luck and happy trails, QT2

Hello QT2:

Glad your up for forum........ it's a place to learn much.
I'm Now In MO. just East of Kansas City.....
Must learn to slow down..... will visit Kansas City all day. No pets, but many people travel with them.... my Wife does not like to travel and I'm alone. Hard at times, but tomorrow is not promised to either of us and we must prepare for life alone. This helps us prepare.

Passed the Mississippi and Missouri rivers and they sure were high....
CB talk at one point about flooding in cities. Glad I do not have to worry about my home in "flood Planes". Must always count blessings.

Yes, let us know how trip goes, and when you start same.... Good luck!

Sorry to hear you are alone. I would highly agree with the saying, "tomorrow is not promised." That thought, among others, is what got us started in the RV world. My father-in-law, who was a great man and friend, passed away Halloween of '05. He was way too young and this was difficult for my husband, who was 34 at the time, and our whole family. DH told me we should start RVing with our children because life is precious and we don't know how long we have.

I had never camped before and thought he had lost his mind. He sent off for the GoRVing DVD. The kids watched it with him and I stubbornly refused to watch it. After 3 weeks of hearing all of them tell me we had to do this, I watched the video. Two weeks after that, we purchased our first camper, a TT we called QT for Quality Time. We went out all the time. My husband is a firefighter/paramedic and his schedule allowed for us to take many trips. I ate all my words and I have loved every minute of camping since. We feel blessed every time we head out. We upgraded to the 5er a little over a year ago and we're still going strong.

We can't wait to leave next weekend. We are scheduled to leave next Sun. My daughter is dancing in Nationals this week. If she doesn't qualify for grand nationals, we'll leave after my son's last flag football game on Sat. I doubt she'll dance on Sat., she is 9 and her group is competing in the 9-12 age category. So, we believe we'll leave a day earlier. We haven't been out since Spring break and it feels like forever!

Wow, I have talked you ear off. Let us know how the rest of the trip goes. Happy Camping, QT2

Glad the tip about Liard gave you some more info - and do keep posting about your trip. Alaska is a great place and I'm sure you'll love it, and the trip is a wonderful opportunity as well. Keep an eye on the weather as it is getting wacky out there!
