Our new MH has a basic Shurflo water pump that seems to work OK, but is a little noisy and does not provide great water pressure. Is there an upgrade you would recommend to improve water pressure as well as a little quieter?

Thanks for all of your help with my questions.

Two separate questions. To quiet it down, make sure that the pump is not plumbed direct to hard plastic pipe. If it is, the pump sets the pipes vibrating. Most pump manufacturers recommend a 3' section of 1/2" reinforced clear PVC tubing which is FDA approved. It is strong but very flexible and keeps the pump from setting the pipes into motion. In many installations, all you need to get is a pair of 1/2" NPT to 1/2" hose barb fittings for the "house end" and from the pump maker 1/2" barb to pump and the hose. We did this on our coach, moving the pump about 3" and turning it around so we could run a loop of hose from the old hard plastic fittings to the pump. Cut noise in half.

If you do not have an accumulator, that will help maintain more constant pressure and additonally quiet the pump.

You can upgrade your pump to one with higher flow rate and possibly higher pressure, but the new pump will be quite a lot more expensive and draw more current. There is reference on this site to a new pump just out, but I am not familiar with it.

In addition to the water pipes you might find that the pump is attached directly to some piece of wood framing. There should be rubber mounting grommets there but I think they get thrown away because they take time to put in (7 seconds).
