I Have a 2002 F250, and as many know, the turning radius is very large. My question is how much better is the turning radius of a 2005+ super duty? Is it enough of a difference that I would be able to get my 5ver into sites easier? Right now it is challenging at times with the turning radius of my current truck.

After owning a 2003 F350 and the one in my signature now I can tell you that there is a very noticeable difference. The '03 was a short bed to boot and this '06 long bed will turn much shorter. When Ford went to the coil spring front end they made a vast improvement in the turning radius.

My $.02 good luck

I have a 2005 PSD short bed with the PullRite SuperGlide, and haven't had any real issues with backing due to the steering radius. I hay have to pull up and reposition, but no issues. Certainly not an issue that I would trade it in for! Now on the other hand, that fantastic new '08 diesel engine and new front grill has made me park in front of my Ford dealer several times, and my eyes kind of glaze over, drool starts dribbling down my chin....

Hi, I have a 2005 F-250, And in the Major Product Features Book on page 12 it says they have improved the Turning Diameter for 2005. Smaller turning diameter with the new front axle and suspension and the Monobeam coil springs front suspension with up to 36% larger wheel cut angles significantly improve turning diameters.

Part of the problem with the large turning radius of your truck is due to the truck being 4x4. That is probably the hardest thing to get used to when going from 4x2 to 4x4. The sad fact is that you can't have 4x4 AND a short turning radius due to the fact that the front end u-joints have to be able to turn freely.

Ever hear a PTO driven hay bailer when in a turn? They make tons of racket if the tractor is turned to sharply. Get that drive train bent between 45 and 90 degrees and it's going to start making some noise.

The more the u-joint in a drive line is bent beyond 0 degrees (absolutely straight), the more it has to work to overcome it's own resistance. The end result of a drive line that's been bent to far past 0 degrees will be the destruction of the u-joint.

That's why the auto manufacturers limit how far the steering wheel can be turned. Otherwise, they'd be replacing parts right and left.

2008 Ford 250/350 4x4 turns tighter than 4x2. 2008 F450 has same turn radius 4x4 or 4x2. Note: F450 has best turn radius of all F250/350/450.

I had a 04 psd and trade for a 05, one of the major reasons was the new front end. It makes a big difference in turning and ride.

went from a 92 250 longbed sc it turened like a 40 foot bluebird bus
the 2002 350 dually crew cab lng bed was a vast improvement, but still many three pointers were required

we i got th e06 dually crewcab it was like night and day it truns almost as good as our smaller car, really helps putting the rv where it needs to be.
however the new 450 pickup like was mentioned is top dog at short turns, ford has a video in their website showing all three and its AMAZING

Whether or not 4x4, that is not a factor in turning radius of the Ford trucks. Biggest limiting factor was the leaf spring front suspension used on Superduty 4x4's up to 2004. I had a 2004 F-250 4x4, while I had not issues with the suspension, the limited arc of travel of the steering made bit more work backing the rv in the driveway. Not more difficult, just took longer to accomplish. Went from that wonderful truck to an even better ford truck, the 450 pickup. This truck seems as nimble as a previous 2wd short bed QC I use to own. Though I have to deal with a dually wide rear end, I can park that truck as easily as much lessor pickups.
FYI, the wide track Super Dana 60 front end on the 450 is now offered as an option on the DRW long wheelbase 350. Nice, very nice option.
