I've got a 5-step version and no one has fallen off of them. I think it's because they look kind of flimsy (but are not) and that's enough visual warning to not take them lightly. Plus, there's a handhold by the camper door.
Sure beats standing on a plastic milk crate, then the trailer tongue, then hopping up into the camper! I'd buy them again. Maybe I'll spray them with that non-skid paint as an earlier poster has done. Good idea.
I haven't figured out the pictures yet, but I made up a temp page at my website... this will at least show you how I did the carpet thing.... Carpeting those "scissors" stairs
