My buddy took a pretty bad fall off of his scissor steps last week in Oklahoma. He was lucky and came away with only some cuts and bruises; no broke bones or stitches. I think what he slipped on was the edge of a step. Each step had a large piece of friction tape in the center of the step, but the edge of each step was rounded, slick and had no friction tape.
Anyone else ever take a tumble on their scissor steps?
Brad

I haven't fallen off my scissor steps but one time when I left the boat trsiler hooked up and tried using the trailer tongue as a step, I took a major header. I still have a lump on my shin bone. The lump doesn't hurt anymore but it is 6 months old so it may be permanent.

Yep, my steps have to extend too much to reach the ground and that makes them really slanted. Haven't really decided on the proper fix yet.

Hi: I never fell on my steps when I had them, used anti slip tape all over them. I was concerned for my daughter falling so I cut up some clear braided nylon tube and put it over the scissor part on each side and used bungee cords to hold them on when we stopped. I felt the fall would not be as bad as to land on them sharp things.

I saw a lady fall off the flipdown when the camper was on the truck. She got up oK but was really shaken up and we all felt it could have been much worse. It has made us really careful when the camper is up. It's one of the things I like about those back porches people make.

We have never had a problem. Ours is a four step model and I put antislip strips on each step. Also, the ladder makes a very good hand hold.
However, writing this probably doubles or triples my chance of having something happen on our next trip.

Last year, in our group of 10 couples camping, 6 women fell while coming out of their campers and MHs. One broke her ribs...the rest were just hurting! (myself included). Now, one would think..........but, no, we weren't drinking!!!!! I hate the steps and usually always hang on hard to the bar....DH is constructing something that'll have a sturdier step and be larger.

Hi,
I had to paint mine grey because I got blinded by the sun reflecting off them and couldn't see my way down.
New rule:
Don't take them off without telling anyone that's inside.
