We frequently camp with a couple that has them and they've both fallen several times over the years on them.

I dont have them and never will.

like someone else, watching where im walking has kept me from falling off the steps.

also, there is a handle on the back of my camper one can hang on to while going up the steps.

I have almost taken a couple of diggers... but only when the steps were wet.

We had scissor steps on Mom & Dad's camper, no grab bar or handle of any sort. I think everyone but Dad fell of them, most more than once. To be fair, Mom falls a lot anyway (she's short and Dad's tall so she's always in a hurry to catch up). There were six of us kids (three of them were clumsy boys, LOL)...we probably had a pretty big first aid kit!

We love the steps for our Snowriver (and having a grab bar), but alas I have to admit my 7 yr. old son has managed to fall anyway! Of course the way he and his brother were fighting I'm surprised only one fell that morning!

My Citation is a basement model so we have 4 scissor steps from the step-down bumper to reach the ground. The Citation comes with a fold against the door grab bar. We have to be careful, but yes I have taken a tumble or 2...nothing serious yet.

They can be treacherous. I added a square aluminum 4" tube and wide step below the basement of the BF then reduced the stairs to 4 steps. Still too much so may build a deck. The best fix was taking 1/2" long hex-head self-tappers and screwing in a bunch on the face of the step. Don't forget the slick rounded edge (if you have that type) because if they are not square to the earth your foot spends a lot of time there...like the author of this thread mentioned. George

Exactly! This is our 3rd camper with sissor steps and no problems here.

I've seen a middle-aged woman fall off 3-steps on a Class A. The steps on most RV's are not like the ones at home and I think people sometimes forget.

YES!!! We had a Hallmark 10ft camper before we bought our bigfoot. Both my wif and I fell down these stairs. Both of use were pretty banged up. I lost a good 3 inches of skin on my shin and it was deep. We have been more carefull with our bigfoot and it does have a fold away door handle that helps. Always looking for a safer solution.
