Frito Bandito helps to make my point. he drove 50K in 10 yrs... that's only 5K miles a year...mileage is not very important here.
i've had a 5.9 12 valve and a 24 valve in dodge pick-ups. and a 2008 300hp 5.9 with a variable geometry turbo in a motorhome.
the 5.9 was fine in the pick-ups but i found it to be way underpowered, and too noisy in the motorhome...

i think the national average of annual miles driven in motorhomes is less than 8K miles per year....thus who cares about the mileage...

We have put almost 13,000 miles on ours in the past 2.5 years. Just got back from a 900+ mile trip and averaged 9.1 MPG pulling the Malibu with a lot of mountain driving.

2005 Sportscoach 300HP w/2500MH 5 speed.

No screamer, but pulling the car it still outruns a UPS truck from a standing start... and it's a lot quieter.

yup...ISB 300 behind a MH2000 Allison.

Love it. Just returned this week from a 1500 mile touring the UP of Michigan. No tow and averaged close to 10mpg. 35,000 flawless miles so far!!!
