hmmm... We didn't even consider it. When the hitch went in the new plug went in. They didn't charge us any more to put the plug in. So it must be so common for our installers they just include it in the price anyway. Ours is on the left just in from the tailgate.

Ditto-all done FOC at the camper dealership. wouldnt be without one-kepps everything clean and put away, reduces the chance, of the wire getting pinched, or coming loose. As previously said-most new trucks have the wiring there already. all thats required is to plug it in, and drill the hole.

Mine is on the way from eTrailer.com. What size hole saw do I need to install this?

One suggestion. When you install the socket into the bed of the truck don’t do what most people do.. Even me. Install the socket in the bed in front of the drivers side wheel well. I had mine installed by the guy that installed the hitch and he put it behind the wheel well. I have to lean in over the tail gate under the 5er to plug it in. This way all you have to do is lock the hitch lever and plug in the pigtail for the 5er.

I found one online and then called around to the local RV Trailer supply stores, found one that had it and about the same price as online. It was very easy to install. Hardest part was deciding where to drill the hole in my nice new truck.

Joezilla,
You'll need to use a 2 1/8" hole saw.

I am glad I read your post TXBobcat. I was searching the posts for locations to install my plug. After reading your post it makes a lot of sense to install the plug forward of the wheel well.

I had the dealer put mine in the stake post inside the bed. They've had a lot of practice and did fast and wasn't that much.

Not to be a smarta$$ but why do you need a plug inside the bed if you have one already below the bumper by the reciever hitch. When we got our first 5er, years ago, I was already to do the side mount wiring but then thought what the heck for??????? Thanks guys
