Carlisle tires have gotten some bad press on other sites with the recent Chinese made products problems. Does anyone here have any experience good or bad to relay?

I bought two Carlisle trailer tire about four years ago and now need to replace the other two tires on the trailer. I have been happy so far, but looking for others comments.

Carlisle and Goodyear have both been working to improve their product quality. Even though Chinese made tires must meet US DOT standard there are many recalls today.
My thoughts are: Since all ST tires are speed rated for 65 MPH, and both advise to always use the sidewall maximum air pressure; there must be a common denominator. I think it's owners. The tow over 65 MPH, use those load/inflation charts instead of following manufacturers warnings, and frequently tow over-loaded.

Carlisle's warranty even says the warranty is void in tires are not inflated to sidewall maximum. Goodyear also says for each MPH over 65 the rated load must be reduced by 10%.

I just bought 4 new Mile-Maker "Triangle" ST tires. The sidewall warns of under-inflation and over-loading. BTW, Mile-Maker has movedWho made that tire? all tire production to China now.

Do a search here on Carlisle blowouts for lots of reading. It is a choice.

For a while Carlisle had a lot of trouble with their tires. I am one of the unlucky ones that had a blowout on a tire that only had around 1000 miles on it. I must also say that when I called the customer service they did go out of their way to assist me in getting the thing fixed. I gave them the info they wanted and when all was said and done they replaced all 5 tires under warranty for free and sent call slips for the bad one and the others taken off. Also they paid for the damage repair to the trailer. I know there is a lot of reading that can be done on the Carlisle but I can only attest to my own experience. Good Luck

I have Carlisle's that were made here in the US of A and I have not had any issues. I was at my local trailer supply/hitch installers today. They had a pile of tires with worn out tread, and a few Carlisle's where the tread ripped right off the middles. Never seen anything like it. About 2" of the middle of the tread is just peeled right off of them.

I've had a lot of trouble with them and I got tired of replacing tires every time I went camping. So I got over sized tires for my TT. Went from 14" to 15" and next width also. So far they have held up.

Don't know about Carlisles, but I did take my Chinese "Nankings" off our new TT 2 years ago and had LT Toyo's put on. When the tire shop was making the switch, I had a chance to feel the sidewalls on both the ST Nankings and the LT Toyo's...all I can say is that the government standards on ST tires must be pretty easy..the sidewalls on the ST Nankings felt pretty weak and flimsy compared to the much stiffer and thicker LT Toyo's that I had put on. We just got back from a year long 15 state, 21,000 adventure without any tire problems and no noticable wear. Oh yeah, we are not necessarily pitching TOYO tires, just the closest tire shop sold these and I heard the quality was good.

Carlisle ST tires [any brand ST] have always been problematic even before the net and China made tires were born. Especially on our heavier trailers running the interstates. STs were developed when before our 5th wheel trailer and our TTs were huge [at 21'-22']. Trailers of all types have grown but the ST tire tech didn't as evident when BFG/Cooper/Delta/Firestone stopped producing STs. For some RV owners that just camp a few time a year and within a couple of hundred miles of home a any brand ST may work for you. I personally do not use any brand ST on any of my trailers, even the RV.
