I just bought a used 2005 RAM 3500 SWD Duallie from a dealer. While one owner with clean CARFAX, somehow it was missing floor mats, manuals, one key, and later I discovered, all the jack equipment. The dealer "stole" a 2005 RAM Manual/Operating Guide, Warranty Booklet, and Maintenance record folder for me.
There doesn't seem to be any real/specific Cummins Diesel "care and feeding" info - is that normal? Or is the Diesel so robust and long-lived, just the oil and air filter changes are necessary?
Hopefully, this is just another newbie question with easy explanation or referrals...
I'd visit a Dodge dealership and order a Cummins supplement to the Dodge owners manual. While this engine is very low-maintenance, it does require specific care. For lots of information on the Cummins diesel, visit: Dave Fritz'a Ram page.
Go to www.hemitruckclub.com and scroll down the left side column of the main page. They have the complete service manual for 03 to 06 Ram trucks. These are over $70 from Chrysler and are complete with wiring diagrams and everything else you may need to work on the truck.

The owners manual that came with my 01 Dodge diesel was specific to the diesel only. There was no info on gas models. I can't help but believe yours would be the same. Contact Chrysler.

Thanks again,
The dealer stole a 2005 manual from another truck that apparently was gas.
Can you believe I asked if I needed to idle the engine after hard driving as I was led to believe by all the advice previously posted on these boards. The Salesman said no...so I didn't other than coasting into Rest areas or parking lots...Of course, now I've read the Manual for the Cummins Diesel that clearly indicates idling for 3-5 minutes. They also didn't mention I needed to pay to transfer the powertrain warranty within 30 days as the second owner...
Another failure on my part was to ensure there was a spare tire, alas, all that's there is a busted raising/lowering cable. Also, discovered afterwards that the Jack equipment was gone too! At least neither of those should be too expensive to recover.
Retrospectively I clearly failed to adequately prepare for this purchase. Hope it doesn't end up being too expensive of a lesson.
