I obtained no response from an earlier post about Sulastic Rubber Springs, but decided to give them a try. What a difference!

The DW is as happy as a clam! Quote: "My body don't jiggle no more and there are no aftershocks!"

The ride is 50% to 60% dampened over the stock shackles. The receiver hitch had to be dropped just to remove the shackle bolts and install the new Sulastics. Torsion bar adjusted up 1/4". Height difference in front is +1" and in the rear +5/8". Running air pressure of 65# front and 55# rear when empty.

Pricey but extremely effective and worth it in our book...

Here's a link to the installation.

Thanks for the details and pictures of the installation as this is the first I have heard of this product.
Looks like a great upgrade from stock and glad it worked for your truck.

Have you done a test tow yet?
Any hitch adjustments needed?

Mike.

Not yet. Will tow again next weekend. In one of the pics you can see there is a "stop block" on the top of the Sulastic spring that keeps it from dropping too far when under a load. This will render the Sulastic spring to a fixed position, which is O.K. since the load will take away all of the bounce and vibration anyway. I never had an issue while towing, its always been while empty. The main benefit derived from these kits is when you are bouncing around without a load. Shouldn't have to make any hitch adjustments. BTW, this was a "drilless" installation.

Update:

The springs have no effect when towing as the tongue weight eliminates any bouncing present when running empty. The stop block on the Sulastic prevents the leaf springs from dropping too far while towing.

Driving empty while commuting and on long freeway trips has really been a blessing. The DW even blurted out one day how much she is liking her new truck now since the ride is so smooth. Music to my ears!

If you are running stiff suspension that makes you sound like Woody Woodpecker, these springs are an option to resolution.

Hey Nick,

Everything is still working for me with the springs, it was a good investment for the comfort aspect...

Nice. I didn't know of many guys that have had them longer than you have. The 1 question everyone always asks is how long do they last so nice to keep up on how they are doing.

Hope all is well.

I like the idea, but they sure don't look like 350 dollar parts!

I've seen posts on other forums about these and they have all been positive. The shackle itself should last forever, but they reccommend replacing the bushings after 3 years.

Ya thank to Marblejunkie and Nick I did this about 3mths ago. Yup greatly improved the unloaded ride on a 2500HD when combined with Bilsteins. It may have softened up the truck a bit towing as I personally experience a bit more porpoising. I think I need to dial my hitch back in and it will be fine. As is though very little difference towing just some routine adjustments required on my behalf. (and for all I know it was the same (towing) before I just can't recall).

Cheers!
