Hello! I am brand new to your website as of today! We currently have a 28' 1994 Minnie Winnie Class C. (Our 4th motorhome. All Class C)
We are looking to upgrade as we do every so many years. We want the following in our new camper; Class C with a rear queen bed.
A bunk over the driver with a window that the kids can look out.
(A camper brand that doesn't have a consistent problem with leaky upper bunks.)
At least one slide out. We have never had one with a slide but I have seen the inside of a couple of campers and WOW! :0)
I also have a funny feeling that when it comes to 'moving up again' that it would be easier to sell a motor home with a slide.
An 'outside shower' and an outside "entertainment center", (read this as a radio!! :0) Because my kids like to walk on the beach and in the mud and we get to hose of their feet outside. We also like to sit at the picnic table and listen to the radio.
At least a 29 - 31 ft. motorhome (See our user name!! :0)
A glass shower door....just because!
Light switches on the walls .... I'm short!
We also like the Winnebago "motoraide" which is a way to use the engine heat to heat up your domestic hot water while you are driving. We are not sure if this feature is available from any other manufacturers.
We would welcome ideas from other individuals ...NOT DEALERS ... as to what types they like best for quality. We did walk through a Class A Tropi-cal that I fell in LOVE with ... (except it was a Class A and we are sold on a Class C.)
Thank you so much for any input,
Carole

Hi Carole,

First, welcome to the forums. You'll find, as I have, a wealth of useful information here, and some great people. Second, congrats on spelling your name "right", the same way my wife spells her name! (She's always saying "Carole, C-A-R-O-L-EEEEEEEE!)

I think you'll find that any of the Winnebago/Itasca Class C's in the 29'-31' range will fit your needs, especially if you've already had experience with that brand. Try looking at the Spirit/Outlook or Impulse/Access lines. You should find a rig that fits your needs.

Our Spirit is exactly what you described, except we put the TV entertainment center option in the front bunk area. We commonly go out with 2 grown college kids and 2 dogs, and it works great for all our needs, even without the front bunk. And you're right, the slides make a huge difference in the whole feel of roominess.

Good MH hunting!

Well here is my 2 cents! If you found a class A you really like go and test drive it!! I really feel both arents with children should be able to drive the rv!!!! You just might find the A easier to drive and park and safer ( bigger tires bigger brakes if in accident they will get your foot not your nose bigger fuel tanks bigger water tanks bigger holding tanks will park easier the A has a very small turning radius) Next time at a campsite ask your neighbor they had a class c and now a class A ask them why?? nough good luck rvtommy

Thanks to all of you who responded to our RV search question.
We have found out that among the best are those listed below and the Minnie Winnie / Itasca, Big Foot, Born Free and Lazy Daze. (Not that we have personally seen the Big Foot, Born Free or the Lazy Daze, although we will keep our eyes open for a chance to look through one of these! ) We are planning to continue our search to upgrade our rig. Please keep the notes coming and hope to see some of you ...out on the road! :0)
Thanks again,
CarolE and the Crew

I'm assuming there are a total of 8 people. You may consider looking at the "bunk bed" Kodiak based models. These units can comfortably sleep 9. And I also mean not squeezing 2 people on the dinette. The problem your up against is, with a longer class c w/slides and a lot of people and all their stuff, you will be maxing out your vehicle's cargo weight. Start adding in the options you want and before you know it- your (RV) over weight. The Kodiaks have more cargo carrying capacity in general because they are built on C5500 chassis or Med.Duty Truck bodies. However, you do need to be careful as some of the larger based kodiaks are equally weight challenged as their van bodied counter parts.

Another thing to consider is the holding tanks are usually much larger in the kodiaks. With 8 people using all the facilities, you might be draining your tanks on a daily basis. Just something to think about.
I think most of the items you are looking for can be special ordered from most manufactures. I didn't see automatic levelers on your request list. I highly recommend these. Really make life much easier. Good luck in your quest.

This is like wanting to have your cake and eat it too. The window in the cabover bunk is the reason for most leaks.

Hi, I sent you a private message. We have a queen cabover bunk with windows in our 2000 31-foot Tioga Class C, and have never had leaks. We do caulk it every year and keep it covered in winter. Good luck on your search!
