Get up early. They launch about 1 hr after sunrise. Then you have most of the day to site see and then back around 3PM for evening flight. Check the schedule to be sure. Don't miss the Balloon Glow or whatever they call it now. Its after sunset and they stay on the ground and Glow like lanterns.

Plan on staying at the Balloon Fiesta RV parking. About 24 bucks a night but free shuttle to the actual launch site, only a few blocks away. If you stay anywhere else, you have to drive to the launch site and its about 10 bucks to park. You actually can save money by staying at the launch site RV parking. Besides, if you don't have reservations elsewhere, you won't get them now. See ya there.

No Kidding! We called in January wanting to make returning reservations in the VIP area. No luck, all sold out. They said this has never happened before, having a sellout in January!

Have fun!

We went 2 yrs ago and signed up for the most expensive (and closest) RV parking 'cuz a couple grandmas w/ walkers travel w/ our group. We were on a waiting list when I called 10 months in advance, but got in a few months later. People apparently sign up year after year. They practically sign up for next yr on the way out this yr. We lucked into a fabulous spot w/ views of the field so the walkers didn't even have to go down all that often but could sit on the hill and enjoy the view - morning and eve.
You'll have a great time.
We'll go back in a couple yrs.

I just found out about this now. If we camp close and drive to the site, is it possible to see the launches or are parking areas reserved too? How would I go about seeing the festival without any reservations? Thanks.

$24 a night at the Fiesta Parking.....????
There are other RV parks around ABQ.
They have shuttle service from several malls
around town and thats the best bet. For X$ they
will drop you off at the field and that includes
the entry fee.

Here is the balloon fiesta web site!
www.balloonfiesta.com

Otherwise try - www.newmexicorvparksandcampgrounds.org/ You might luck into something!

Also, they are always looking for people to 'crew' which is help inflate and deflate the balloons. Most times you'll get a ride with your 'crewing adventure'. Let me be the first (I hope) to welcome you to New Mexico 'The Land of Enchantment' have a wonderful time! There is no place like it!
