There's a park on 40, closer to Durango, up high in the forest. The gate is always closed when we fly by, but that might be a place to camp. The Pemex stations between Durango and Villa Union are mostly all closed at night, so there's no good place to sleep for a while.

Don't forget, if you're going to be down south that long, you will probably have to get a FM-3 visa. A FM-T is only good for 6 months.

We've been in MExico since January 1st. Still on FMT's. According to the law, you must spend 72 hours outside Mexico after your 180 days are up, but that isn't enforced very widely (in our experience). I would only get an FM3 if I were going to STAY in Mexico permanently. Getting RID of an FM3 can be more trouble than getting one.

For ideas on boondocking in Mexico, go to http://www.rversonline.org/ and look in Articles, Editorials and Travelogs at "RVing in Mexico, an Expert Mini-series". David Eidell has many good suggestions that we found very helpful.
