DW & I have been looking at new travel trailers to replace our old class C which is on its last leg for a little while now. We just found out yesterday that DW is pregnant. So my question is how many people have camped w/ a newborn. Whats your experiences or should we wait to buy a new trailer when the little one gets older. Now we will be looking harder at bunkhouse models

We started in a tent and soon went to a PopUp when youngest was apx 18 mths. Biggest issue was safe sleeping arrangments.
I have heard of people who remove dinnette and put a sleeper/playpen in that area as a crib.
I'd take the baby and have fun.

Took all three of my boys camping in there first few months! The youngest was only 4 weeks old for his first trip. Start them young and hopefully they will enjoy it as much as you do. My boys are now 8, 6, and 3, and can't wait 'til the next time out!

My son Cameron (now 7 months) went on his first trip in our new TT at 3 months old. We've had him on four trips now...
Only suggestion beyond the obvious:
A screen room - the first trip my wife and I took turns staying inside with Cameron because the mosquitos were horrible and we didn't want to use bug spray on him that young. I found a 12x12 screen room at Gander Mountain for under $100.
Other than that... we take his Pack'n'Play and use that for a crib. We bring his exer-saucer thingy, we open up a sleeping bag on the patio mat under the awning for him to roll around on, and we use a cheap $25 baby sound monitor once we put him down and head out to the campfire to enjoy the night.
We've had no problems thus far and I expect Cameron to be an expert camper by the time he's 2!!!
Good luck!!!

Contrats!!
My wife got cabin fever staying at home the first year of each child's life. Going camping was a way to get her out of the house and into the world. There are no problems RV-ing with a newborn that didn't also happen at home.
The only hard part of a two week driving vacation with my son while he was still breastfeeding was that he would notice the change from driving on the open highway to the slow pace looking for a campground at which time he really let us know he was hungry.
Traveling in an RV with a newborn is way easier than a hotel weekend because you can have all the tools of the trade with you wherever you go.

Congratulations!!!!!
I started out tent camping 30 years ago and moved up to a PU and a TT just two years ago. All 4 of my boys went camping from the very beginning and they did great. It will be much easier in a TT especially given the fact that you can keep a lot of supplies on hand instead of hauling back and forth.
Camping is so enjoyable and your baby will become a great little traveler! Go for it!
Happy Camping

My DD's are 38 and 41 years old now. Each was taken camping for a week at age 6 weeks. Both are avid campers now, and have taken their own kids since infancy. Tent campers, not RV's.
