You guys are making me hungry. I don't have any pie irons yet. But I well before our next camping trip. I have been meaning to pick some up but just never got around to it. They are on the top of the list now. I can't wait to try all of these recipes. It sounds like an easy and fun way to make dinner or dessert. And a great way to get everyone involved.

Finally found it: French Toast for the Pie Iron:
French Toast
Dip 2 bread slices into egg batter, place both slices into cooker, placing strawberry jam between bread slices. Toast until browned.

The best part of the pie irons is that kids can cook for themselves. There's a bit of pride in the fact that they assembled a pizza & cooked it over a fire pit. Pie irons are great!
I'm going to try the tacos &/or the meatloaf next time. Great ideas!

A couple of camping trips ago we made stuffed french toast with the pie irons. I made a basic french toast eggwash with 2 eggs, milk, and nutmeg. I then took sour dough bread and spread cream cheese and raspberry jam (seedless) inbetween two slices of bread. I then dunked the "sandwich" in the eggwash and into the pie irons they went. YUMMMM

Now I'm just trying stuff. Take a croissant roll from the can cut a piece for the bottom sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, add a little butter, a little brown sugar and about a tablespoon of maple syrup. Take an another piece of croissant roll and put on top and pinch together making a pouch cook for about 3 minutes a side and enjoy. It is messy so use a plate and a fork

Brownies. Just use regular brownie mix and cook them on the grate, not directly in the fire/coals. Turn every 2-3 minutes and check after about 10.
