Craig - We will keep the family in our thoughts and prayers. And also say a special prayer for you as you search for ways to comfort the family. I have no doubt that you will say and do just the right thing to help them through this difficult time. Hugs!

....thanks for all the thoughts. Little Robert has been/is at the point where his dad, and the male influence is needed and wanted. For the last year and several months, Eric has been on powerful meds and chemo therapy that substantially altered his feelings and moods. It's been tough to watch as Robert wants more and Eric could only give less, just heartbreaking. I will try to fill some of that void, but let's face it, I'm 58 and Robert is barely 4, and I'm starting from scratch. Whatever it takes though........

he ain't heavy..........he's my brother....
In the rising of the sun and in its going down,
We remember them;
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter,
We remember them;
In the opening of the buds and in the warmth of summer,
We remember them;
In the rustling of leaves and the beauty of autumn,
We remember them;
In the beginning of the year, and when it ends,
We remember them;
When we are weary and in need of strength,
we remember them;
When we are lost and sick at heart,
We remember them;
When we have joys we yearn to share,
We remember them;
So long as we live, they too shall live,
for they are now a part of us as
We remember them...
I am so sorry Craig, my heart is still heavy from saying farewell to my mom.... so I am crying with you right now.

Craig. I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend. Truly heartbreaking.

We also offer our sincere condolences to Eric's family, esp. his little guy, Robert. That is so heartbreaking!! He is going to need alot of male support.
I think it would be wonderful if a fine gentleman who is merely 58 years old were to be a surrogate father to a young child. He will reap those benefits for his entire life. It's amazing how some of the "older" people in our lives influenced us so much... probably not even knowing it.
God Bless his family and his friends. It is a huge loss to all of them!!

Don't sell yourself short. You're in good shape - Robert will love the attention. Don't worry about "doing" stuff with him, just be with him. You'll end up having a good time and learning from each other. Remember how good mud feels between your toes? When was the last time you watched fireflies? Ice cream tastes better at a playground.
You'll do fine, your heart is in the right place and it always seems to make room for anybody that needs you.
