We had to put Molly, our beautiful 12 yr. old lab to sleep yesterday. Vet said she was suffering and losing too much weight from not eating and when she did eat not being able to hold it down. Yet whenever we walked by her bed as she lay there, she'd sure enough roll over for her tummy scratch. Just didn't have enough energy to do anything more...

DH took her and had tears in his eyes as he drove to the vet. He loved that dog, bought her when our first child started 1st grade and lost her as that 1st child just started college. She loved to go camping/RVing with us and when she saw those duffle bags in the morning she new it was time to get into the truck and be on the road. She loved swimming in the lake, lying by the campfire or snoozing in the camper.

Theh house is so lonely today, though we still have our little bichon, but he's walking around as if he is looking around for her. Kids are sad and crying, we are sad and crying. You just come to love your pets so much.

Sweet dreams sweet Molly.

I am so sorry... please accept my hearfelt condolences. As someone who always has at least two dogs & cats in my life at any time, I have been there enough times to know it is never easy to say farewell to a much loved pet. I hope you will all take gentle care of each other and that your good memories of Molly will help you while you grieve.

Here is a poem you might want to share with your family.

Master, It's Time

Master, dear Master, the old dog said,
My road has come to an end.
No more can I ramble by your side
Your loved and trusted friend.

My eyes, once filled with joy of life,
Are dimmed with age and pain.
The walks we shared by field and stream
Must wait for another day.

You cared for me with all your heart,
And I gave you my all.
But now, beloved master,
Another Master calls.

I know you hate to let me go,
But my love is yours to keep.
The time has come, my dearest friend,
When I need to go to sleep.

Your kindness made my life a joy
And you love me, this I know.
Show me your love one final time
And gently let me go.

Master, my beloved friend,
As we say our last good-bye,
Know that I will be waiting
For you on the other side.

Then we will ramble the woods again,
Walk the fields when the leaves start to fall.
I'll be sitting right here by the golden gates
Waiting for your call.

I'm sorry for your loss. I recently lost a pet also. It's hard and you will cry a lot. I know, I have. Give your other little fur baby extra love and attention. They know when a friend is gone and they grieve also. You will see a change in her behavior. Just be comforted by knowing she has gone to the Rainbow Bridge and will be there waiting for you. Here is a site that has helped me.
Petloss.com

The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Camperoo, sorry for your loss. I've walked those footsteps. My son & I rushed our dog to the vet for the same reason. She apparently had a brain seizure or stroke but was still alive when we arrived. I made a drastic attempt to remain "strong", and simply lost it when we arrived at the front door. Time will ease your pain, & fond memories will always remain.

Vary sorry for your loss, we have been through it several times, and its not easy. We think more of our animals than we do of most people, there your best friend, they believe in you, trust in you, love you, and would give there life for you in a heart beat. What more could you ask for from a member of your family. I have to stop now, I have tears in my eyes for you.
Vary Sorry.

We lost Phoebe on our last night on the road home from wintering in Texas. We understand your pain, as do the posters before us. Please know that each of us truly believes that our God is so good He will grant us the privelege of meeting our furkids again at the Bridge. Please give your Bichon extra love during his loss.
