I need to replace the current microwave in my rig and was wondering what is the best option for a new microwave?
I have thought about the convection/microwave option but am concerned about heat exhaust. My old microwave exhausted through the top and bottom. Most seem to vent on the side and bottom now. Is that a concern with venting on a normal microwave?
In looking at the local walmart, I did see some new microwaves with the grill in it. Is that a possible option or will there be a heat concern with it also?
Thanks for any recommendations you can give.

Most of my cooking is done outside on the grill. When I have to replace my "nuke", I am going with the convection type for the small and quick meal. The heat is not as big of a concern to me anyway as windows or A/C help to relieve.

My DW loves the Sharp convection microwave. The GE works but it isn't intuitive. The exhaust hasn't been an issue with either.

I would recommend researching whichever model(s) you may prefer. You should be able to find some technical documents on-line (owner's manual) that will tell you want kind of venting or air space you need surrounding your unit.
I would highly recommend a micro/conv combo. It is a phenomenal way to cook without having to use your oven. For hot weather folks, it significantly reduces the heat generated inside the trailer when cooking a meal versus the oven.

We have a Dometic convection/microwave in our KZ and wife loves it, ours vents to the outside by thermostat if it gets to warm around it.
Wife was scared of it at first but read the directions and no she loves it

Don't know why you need to replace, but if the display is causing problems, you might go to
http://www.microwavedisplay.com/
and see if the repair might do the trick. We had a Sharp microwave in our 5er and the bars in the display started going out shortly after it was out of warranty. I could have done a replacement but the new unit may not have fit exactly and I hate filling up landfills with repairable stuff.
William Miller delivered on what is claimed and my microwave is working perfectly for about 1/4 of what a new one would cost. You can find a previous post on 9/22/06 with more details.
