After reading the advice from other Rv'rs we are going to try Yellowstone in the Fall. Weather permiting we will leave central WI September 25th for Yellowstone with our 3ft MH and toad. We have been to Yellowstone twice before in the summer without the MH ( had a tt)we have went in the east entrance and out the Gardnier exit, in through Beartooth and out to the tetons.

Given the "been there done that" rtes we have taken do you have any suggestions for a new route? one that we can do with the MH and a toad? total of 50 ft?

We will be camping at Mammoth as I believe all other campgrounds inside the park close end of Sept.

Sure. The southern route up US191 to Jackson. Be prepared for snow.

If you're camping at Mammoth, going in the south entrance is the long way around. On the other hand, unless there is a big early snow and the roads are closed, that shouldn't be a big problem. Make sure to keep up on weather reports on your way there, though. You may need to rethink your route if YNP gets a lot of snow and closes some of the roads! The north entrance to Mammoth, and beyond to Cooke City, is open all year long to allow the local residents to get in & out.

There's a big, BIG! KOA just 6 or 7 miles West of West Yellowstone. Plenty of room for your rig. Access to the Park from West Yellowstone is handy as you can do the upper loop or lower loop without covering so much of the same ground.

I would not take I-90 through Mn and SD as it is very choppy. I drove it in June and by the time I got home I was sore!
