Recently puchased a used Rockwood and have been having some major problems with the monitor. I have a 30 day warranty thru the dealer, which isnt up yet, and after checking thru all of the connections on the unit, we feel that the monitor is the problem, we have power in the main unit, the monitor doesnt come on at all, and we have power right up to the 12 volt plug in,,the camper is located 3 hours from the dealership on a permanent site, and after bringing the monitor back to the dealership, I was told that the camper would most likely have to be brought back to them because the there may be more going on with the system then just the monitor,,can anyone please tell me if I am nuts here or what, but surely all they would have to do is check this monitor on another system to see if that is problem, without returning the whole camper back to the dealership,,I have done some research and it seems these systems are a nightmare,,they are pretty sure that I am not gonna return the camper 3 hours and then return to camp at another 3..so is this the issue here...the dealer doenst want to replace at his cost since it is their warranty?
The dealer may be trying to get out of warranty work but on the other hand he may just be wanting to check the whole system before your 30 days are out. Unless you want to change the whole systme yourself and buy a new monitor the 3 hours might be worth the drive with the trailer as you would have to take the monitor back anyway. It would be worse if the dealer gave you a new monitor and then you found out there was something else wrong.
IMHO if it were me I'd take the whole unit back for a check especially with all the problems Rockwood has with these things.

Eeven if he were to replace it, it is still alot to consider. I can't tell you much about the monitor other then you might research it on the net for a couple of days and see what come out of it. You are talking about the tank sensor is that right?

Unfortunately, the dealer is probably right in this case. He could replace the monitor panel at his cost, and if you take it back and put it on your rig, it still may not work and he will still have a dissatisfied customer. The monitor panel is just one of the many pieces to a monitor system. You have 3 sets of tank sensors and wiring, and the monitor panel. The problem is usually in the sensors and wiring, not the panel, so I can't blame the dealer for wanting the entire RV there in order to work on the monitor system. Ours is at the dealer's shop right now in order to replace a defective furnace and to fix the gray tank monitor system, which has not read properly since we bought it and is probably a wiring error. The black and fresh water systems read as they should.

I am sorry for the confusion, I am talking about the monitor for the concertone stereo stystem, I just realized the I didnt specify which monitor, I appreciate your suggestions on this matter...thanks
I think that Judyg is talking about the TV monitor, not the monitor panel for the tank sensors. [she beat me to the clairification :)]If not then disregard this note. You might check to see if the plug into the back of the monitor is tight. It is possible that it isn't or that the cord itself is the problem. Did it ever work? Did you get a chance to turn it on during your walkthru/PDI?
Either way you are going to make the 6 hour round trip. I agree it is a pain to have to take your trailer all that way. I am sure that you realize that if you do just take them the monitor and it works when they plug it into another trailer you will have to then drive home 3 hours to get the trailer and then return it (another 3 hour drive).
Maybe the dealer is trying to get you to really decide if it is worth it to bring it back in. Is it? Maybe he is just trying to head off you needing to make the trip twice if it works when you just bring back the monitor.
If you really don't want to drag your trailer all the way back to the dealer I would ask them again if I could just bring the monitor to them and if it works when I get there I would I would then bring in my trailer asap. You won't have a service appointment for just returning the monitor because all anyone would have to do is to just unplug a monitor in a like system and plug yours in to see if yours powers up. My guess is it won't since you have done all of the system checks yourself.
Before taking anything, anywhere I would check that connection on the back of the TV and check to make sure the cord is okay.
Good luck.

I know you bought a TT with a 30 day warranty, but in all honesty don't bother with this item. If you go to the Rockwood/Flagstaff forum you will have a ton of reading on what******the concertone unit is!! I know, I have one and mine doesn't work right, and yes I did have a 30 day warranty and "NO" I wouldn't bother my dealer(that by the way is only 15 minutes away). I have read enough that I realize that it would be a waste of time and possible bad relations with the dealer(not a FR dealer).
So my reply is live with it or buy a unit that will work for you, I'm going to do just that. Life is too short to mess with a product that even "IF" replaced with new probably will not work either.(gleaned form much reading about concertone******units.
Good luck,

If it is anything like my unit it is actually just a PC LCD screen and not a TV. The tuner portion is built into the Concertone System. You should be able to hook another video device to that monitor via either SVIDEO or PC VGA connections to test if the unit displays anything.

one suggestion is to talk with the dealer and tell him you don't want to have to bring back the TT for the warranty work until you have done a complete shake down, you want to get everything fixed at once. In SOME cases the dealer will do the work after the warranty expires so long as it was reported to them before the deadline. Just a thought

Judy, sorry, but like others, I didn't realize you were referring to your LCD monitor screen. I have no experience with the Concertone unit in your Rockwood.
