"One of our first big dollar upgrades is going to be a nice big porcelain toilet!"
I agree on that one! After using a genuine porcelain toilet in our last 5er, that's the first thing I would change if we got an RV with a pastic toilet. In fact I would probably swing by the camping supply store on the way home.

Teeny tiny holding tanks plus state/national parks with no hook ups equals using the campground's bathhouses. We have only a 7 gallon black tank and a 25 gallon gray. (Honest!) Staying more that 1 or 2 nights means that we have to conserve tank space, so we do.
Happy Camping!!

We purchased our trailer to have our own facilities! We take advantage of our shower and our porcelain commode! Our 3 holding tanks are large and provide for us nicely. We rarely using the facilities at the park.
If folks don't want to use the facilities in thier own trailer, "to each his own." It's not my place to question them.

I use the camprground facilities during the day as it's usually a good excuse to stretch and get a little exercise. At night it's the camper.
We tend to use the campground showers when we can because the one in the 5er is not big enough for two people.

I use my motorhome's facilities. I keep aware of the codes to enter the campground facilities though, as they are our park's tornado shelters as well.
Typical use I see of them is for tent campers.

We bought a fifth wheel w/full bathroom so we could use it and believe me, we do. There are 6 people in our family----2 are adults, 2 are older teens and 2 are under age 11. The bathroom gets a lot of use!! If I had wanted to use the public facilities, I would have bought a tent! We only camp where there is full-hook-ups. Yes our shower/tub combo is a bit on the small side, but I don't have to carry all my bathroom supplies for a family of 6 to the bathhouse every day. We like the convenience of having the full bathroom in the camper.

Ed said sometimes a time saver...especially when we traveled with our boys. The time saver part was meant for me I guess...he and the boys have used some very nice campground shower facilities.
