The kind of cable Les has described is known as a suicide cable. It's so named because if one of the NEMA 5-15 plugs is dislodged from a generator it's exposed and hot with possibly lethal current.

If you're going to make your own parallel cable, please do the right thing and spend the little extra money for a Honda banana plug cable you can hack. The safety it'll buy you is well worth the $40.

The homemade parallel cables are the simple cheap ones that you can view in the search mode under parallel cables. Mine are made by buying two surge protectors with 14 amp wiring attached and plug in's on the other end. I simply cut off the surge protectors and wired both cable's together into a 30Amp trailer recepticle which is mounted into a plastic connection box. My 30 amp cable from the MH is than plugged into this 30 amp trailer recepticle.

However one thing that I have done that is different than most is to disconnect the air conditioner from my breaker box and wire it directly to my 30 amp MH input cable by way of and inline 30 amp breaker. The reason for that was in order to bypass my inverter.
I have a 1800 watt inverter which would not always allow the A/C to start no matter what the power source. It's old and the trasfer switch obviously dose not work always.

I'm a Honda Church Goer, and I'm pretty impressed with what I read about the Champions. They get put down a lot by those that don't own them, but all I see is praise from those that do own them. What really convinced me was when a small circus came to our town and the whole thing was powered by a small fleet of Champions. I figure they wouldn't use them if they weren't dependable, and they must get a lot of run time. For myself I already have the Honda 2000, and I know how to juggle the loads to get by with it.

Sorry, but I know this is late posting about the eu2000 and the eu1000.

I have a EU3000 and it would not start the A/C on my then 5th wheel..I put a "Cold Start" on the A/C unit and it took care of the problem.

You can get a "Cold Start" at any A/C shop.

Keep COOL

"Yes, it does. At full power, my EU2000i is still way quieter than any Onan."

A 2000 watt Honda EU2000i BETTER be quieter at full load than a 4000 watt Onan Microquiet at full load.

Now for the tough one ..... compare the noise levels of a 4000 watt Honda XXXXXX (inverter or otherwise) at full load with a 4000 watt Onan Microquiet at full load.

Apples to apples is usually the way to do it.

Funny thing I posted a link to this experience on other RV-related forum (after making sure posting links was officially allowed there) and the link as well as my replies pointing to the success of paralleling different Honda got deleted.
Some lobby doesn't want users to know it is possible.
Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Hi people, is there any order in the connection of the red cables? i mean hole right go with hole right and so, or they just go in any paralell contection hole?

1. How do these parallel kits sync the frequency of the two inverter generators which is what paralleling really means.
2. When paralleled, are the two Hondas running in ISOCH or DROOP?
3. How is load sharing handled? Is there a sense wire between the two generators to handle load sharing?

The parallel connection between Honda eu-series generators is just plain old wire. The 2nd unit to be started senses the existing power at its output and places itself on-line in synchronization with it. The 2nd unit also varies its frequency as needed to maintain the synchronization. The only connection between the generators is the 2 AC power wires.

Hi,

CJW8 - The ability to twin (parallel) is built into the inverters. As Wayne said, they are only connected with wire, they see each other, and synchronize to each other.

After briefly playing around with 2 EU2000's, I don't personally think there is a master or slave, or that the one you start first has any more sophisticated control than the other. I think the inverters just detect each other and keep their frequencies synchronized properly.

My two EU2000's would not PLAY nice with each other, one wanted to carry over 60% of the load and the other less than 40% of the load. When I did some testing at the local Honda place, thier two EU2000's did parallel very nicely together at about 50/50. This may explain too why some people who have combined an EU2000 and EU1000 sometimes get great results with the EU1000 carrying less of the load (like my original two EU2000's, one was a "strong" one and one "weak"). But if your EU1000 wants to be the strong one in a EU1000/EU2000 pair, it won't work very well. What controls which wants to be the strong and weak one? Perhaps one wants to put out more voltage than the other. It is really too bad you can just open them up and tweak the voltage/pair up sharing somehow...

Good luck,

Alan
