Willy B's BBQ is located in Alamo on South Alamo Street.
From either Business or Expressway # 83 head south on Alamo Street.
It is a few blocks south of Business 83 on the east side of the road. It is in a residential area.

It is a rustic old building you may not stop at unless someone told you it was really good and it is.

You go through a line & order what you want & they have it ready by time you pay. The chopped pork sandwich is my favorite. The ladies usually like the loaded baked potato, it is huge. The beans are really different & very good. Everything is smoked right in their yard.

This is among the best of the Tex-Mex BBQ's, You know its good by all the locals that eat here.

pawatt, thanks for the directions. We went there with some "locals" by the back roads. We had the LOADED potatoes, the size of a football!

We like Aribas in Nuevo Progesso, they have live enterainment starting at noon(we've never been at night), happy hour all day long. We eat and dance there at least once a week and have for 5 years or more, the food and drinks are not expensive and we have never gotten any bad food. Its located about 4 blocks south of the River,1 block to the right at the old school and in the mini-mall. Richard

One of our favorite places to eat is at Costa Mesa Restaurant in McAllen. It is on 11th St just north of 495 (Pecan St). They have the best tasting fajitas - both beef and chicken, and are very tender and moist. It is very clean and the service is usually good. I would not recommend going right at noon because they are very busy with local business people on their lunch breaks.

Across from the flea market is a large farmers market, I or someone else can report on that later.

The farmers market is open daily (I think) and has lots of local fruits and veggies that are very reasonably priced. They have lots of samples of oranges, grapefruit, and pineapples to taste in case you are not sure which ones you want to buy. The pineapples are $2.00 and they core them for you, so you don't have any mess at home. All the fixin's for salads abound. Cabbage galore! You get the idea....

Last year we found ourselves visiting the market twice a week since our fridge is so small and we love the fresh produce.

Thanks so much for the info, we are so looking forward to coming down. Couple questions. Is there a neat Mexican town right across the border and anything to avoid while down here? Thanks, Cam
