I saw this on TV recently- a test to see if they really made a difference. The verdict pretty much as save your money and don't bother, they don't make much of a difference (Except for Debbie what's-her-name, who must me making a nice chunk of change)

Yeah, I saw that test, too, but who really wants to keep a bunch of bananas around for 30 days? I would just like to have a day or two of them being something between green and terminally freckled. I was going on the recommendation of my SIL, who lives in Florida and they grow much of their own food. What she doesn't put in freezer bags goes in the green bags. She's had good luck with them.

I don't know about the tv report but I buy them at super Wal-Mart and love them. I feel they really do help keep veggies fresh longer, up to two weeks is the longest I've tried. Don't know about banana's, I don't like them so don't buy. Something I have found is just having them in the produce drawer in the fridge helps with everything, just not things in a bag.

Normally cilantro stored in my fridge is usable for maybe 3-4 days then it gets dark and slimy. After 8 days in a green bag it all looked great. After 11 days some of it was turning dark. After 2 weeks I was able to salvage enough for salsa, about 1/4 cup. It kept bell peppers nice for those 2 weeks. I've been dumping salad from the store bags into green bags and it stays nice for 2 weeks or longer. I have a hard time keeping potatoes from sprouting. Green bags keep potatoes fresh longer, but only a few days.

I have seen them at Wal Mart, Bed Bath and Beyond and my local grocery store. I have been using them for about a month, and I love them. They do work. Things stay crisp and green a lot longer. I even keep potatoes and onions {not refrigerated} in them and they are working beautifully for that, too. They can be washed and reused several times.

Too bad my local Dollar General or DolGen Market doesn't have them yet.
