I need information on RV parks or trailer courts in Catersville, Georgia area. Working short job- six to eight weeks- at Plant Bowen.
Nothing fancy, just FHU, quiet, and clean.
thanks,
Wayne
There's really not a lot in that area in terms of campgrounds. Well, outside of the campgrounds on Lake Allatoona. However, those are all Corps properties or a state park and don't have full hookups nor could you stay there for that long unless you moved around among them (which is an option). The 2 closest main towns are Rockmart and Cartersville. Plant Bowen is really in a town called Taylorsville. But, there's not much there but a few houses and a couple of gas station/convenience stores.
About the only campground in the area with full hookups that I know about would be the Cartersville KOA. I *THINK* there's a campground in Rockmart (which is probably closer than Cartersville to Bowen). Seems like it was called "The Rock" or something. But, I also think they only do camping for festivals so that may not be an option. But, check those 3 cities out and you might find something in the area.
coincidence you mention cartersville. We're heading there now to park our 5th in my son's yard for a week. All three of my sons live there and I really enjoy the free camping.....and visiting my sons.
But to answer your question no there really is no close full hookup camping. Redtop state park and a COE park with only electric and water. I think there's a two week max stay. You'll have to head down us41 towards atlanta and I once stayed at a full park there. Or there is a KOA north of cartersville that is probably the closest. http://www.koa.com/where/ga/10120/

I actually rode a bicycle through The Rock campground in Rockmart a couple of weeks ago (it is right off the Silver Comet Trail). It looks like you could definitely stay 8 weeks or so, but you will have to call them about FHU's as I did not notice.
Anyone know the name of that rv park south of Cartersville on the old highway, right before you get to the lake and just north of the bridge? We use to say there years ago, and we were there 4 years ago and they were still open, but fo rthe life of me I cannot find the name of it. Going south on the hold highway, and just before you cross the bridge over Lake Alatoona, it is on the right where you exit to the right to go to Dallas.
Some of the COE parks have a few sites with full hookups. I know Sweetwater on Lake Allatoona has 2-4 full hookup sites. Of course there's a limit on how long you can stay.

I know the park you are referring to (can't remember the name either). I when through there about a year ago. What a dive. Just about all seasonal, numerous cars up on block, trash everywhere, the roads in need of repair and just a nasty park.
dwb619 - My sister and her better half just asked me to look in the area and see what I could find for them. Do you know Hank (Carolyn) and Scott? Please send me a PM if you do find something that does not get posted up in this thread. *Thanks*
