$1,500,000?? We only have 1 2/3 acres. If somebody offered us $250,000 not only would we sell, I would leave them all three tractors, the boat, the camper, most of the tools in the shop, all the furniture in the house, the contents of the cupboards and whatever is in the frig and freezer.
I need three days to put the hitch back in the truck, load the 5er, and get gone.

Why would you want to leave your dream house, unless you needed the money. Do you want to retire in this house or do you have plans on getting out once you retire. We could cash out on our house, but we like it here and this is where we want to stay.

Yep, 'cause I've got my eye on a 3/4 acre place on Horseshoe Bay (on LBJ Lake).

Would we? Send one of those realtors here that can get us that for our place and just don't get in our way as we leave. We'd do it in a heartbeat and never look back.

I'd take the 1.5 mil in a heartbeat. Heck, at that level, I'd throw in the furniture also...

But I'd keep the mineral rights....

Depends, if they will pay the government the taxes, they have levied on my hard work through the years, on the sale.

If someone offered me a Million five for this property I WOULD ask them how quickly they needed me gone, ask for at least A thousand down and be cleared out within 48 hours In fact they need not offer a million five, just the five or even 100000, in fact I'd take less than that.

Anyone want a 2 bedroom full basement detached garage dual lot (Back to back) in N.W. detroit with parking for one RV (Limited hookup Water (on house) sewer and 20 amp electric)?

I began building my house when I was 22 on a piece of property my parents gave us (I was married at 19). They still live next door, my youngest brother is across from them and another younger brother owns the piece across the street from us. I have 2 acres, but the family has about 30. I finished the house by the time I was 25 (sub'd out a lot of the work) and we absolutely love the area we are in. I fought the urge to enlarge the place as the kids got older, and now that they are on their own the place is plenty big enough. I can't imagine there is a place I would rather be. We owe roughly 200K on it and it's valued at 425. I would not sell it for 1.5 million, I plan on living in my home until I am in "the home" or in "the box".

I may be different from a lot of you. I have roots in the community and, while I might like to visit your area of the country I still think this is the best place on the planet.

Buff's Place wrote:

Thanks to a friend that’s a home builder and land developer he gave us a realty check up, Seems our little place is worth every bit of 1.5m and were not selling. We had no idea how much things have changed in construction, land, zoning, codes…what you can and can not do on your own property etc. Thanks for all the helpful advise.

BTW the RR problem is slowly being solved.
I wonder what Buff did?
