Just got back from my second 5 nighter - this time was Williamsburg, VA.. It was an easy drive from my house (117 miles), and rather than go all over the CG to find a site, I chose a handicapped site across from the office/pool and set up within an hour. These quickie trips are to prove to myself that I can still tow, set up and enjoy since breaking my leg and using a walker.

The indoor pool was fabulous - no one there, so I got to kick to my legs delight, and I do believe I am seeing/feeling some improvement.

I leave again tomorrow for another 5 nighter on Lake Gaston, and hope the lake will be a good temp for me to kick around in.

So many campgrounds close their pools Labor Day weekend, and that makes it rough for those who'd love to have a refreshing swim as the outside temps in this area are still up there - 80's and 90's.

It took me a bit to get leveled side-to-side, but I got it and all worked great.

Glad to hear you're back up and around. Have a great week at Lake Gaston... we're packed in for the year, so have some fun for us.

Glad to hear you're still out there in spite of your misfortune. I am disabled but ambulatory, but in coming years I suspect we will be watching for handicapped sites more and more. Sounds like yours was great! Keep pluggin' away, and enjoy yourself!

I was recently at Harper's Ferry KOA. I'm not sure if they have handicap spots. The outdoor heated pool was still open on Sept. 24th. The YMCA near us has a therapy pool (open to all) as well as a large heated swimming pool.

Thanks all - am still trying to line up more trips. Thanks for the YMCA tip - had forgotten all about them - might see what's available in my area.

I might even book a few nights at Camp Pedro (South of the Border) just to use their indoor pool! We shall see. Tickled to be up and about again. Don't want to sit at home and rot.

Pattie, I so glad that you got back up on the horse or should I say on the PUP after your accident. Now I must beg you to slow down. Setting up camp in less than an hour with a walker is some what embarassing for us turtles

Pattie, Glad to hear that you are out having fun. Kind of curious about what Campground you stayed at in Williamsburg that has a inside pool. I go up there to Williamsburg since it is just a hour away from the house and would love a campground that has a inside pool that the kids can use once the outdoor pools close on Labor Day weekend.

Pattie, where are you going camping at Lake Gaston? Been there before?

We used to go to an American Heritage on the south side of the lake, but it went to a membership deal and they only let non-members go there once or twice.
