I saw a whole trout in the fish store the other day, and wanted to try it but wasn't sure what to do about the head being attached. I have never cooked a fish like that. Any ideas on a good way to do that?

Trout always have the head on it, if you don't like it cut it off. I put some butter on it and lemon, wrap in foil and cook on the grill about 5 to 7 minutes a side. You will love it.

Leave the head on while cooking. It has flavorful oils in it. You don't eat it, but leave it on for cooking. Butter, lemon and a little salt and pepper, wrap in foil and grill him up. Thats the best way to eat trout. You can also smoke them if you have a smoker.........

Rather than carry flour, cornmeal, and all the other ingredients, I grab a box of Jiffy Corn Muffin mix and keep in the camper. Pour into a flat pan. Roll the trout in it to coat and sprinkle some in the body cavity. Fry in oil until golden brown and meat is starting to flake. The corn meal gives the fish an excellent flavor and seals in the juices.

I just heard someone on a hunting show that said you can use cornflakes to bread anything you are cooking. I hadn't thought of it before, but it makes sense.
