Has anyone had any success (or any problems) with little itty bitty flies???
We have them in our trailer and can't seem to get rid of them. I think they came in several months ago with some fruit. Got rid of all the fruit and also don't have any other food laying around. They also seem to be gathering around the toilet. Could they be coming from the holding tank? They are driving me crazy! Didn't know what kind, if any, spray to use. ANY help would be appreciated.

i got something similar when in Myrtle beach this summer. I sprayed around the coach with a chemical I picked up at Home depot. And yes they do like the poop tank I finally got rid of them when I sprayed into the toilet and down the vent stacks (got the gray and black that way). They were so bad they blocked the black tank sprayer when they died. Had to take hat apart to clean it out if the pin holes.

I believe some call them sewer flies. They will come into your holding tanks when you leave the slide valves open.

Get some of the sticky fly strips that you hang up. Sounds old fashioned, but used in addition to sprays it is very effective.

Yep, pour a little Diazinon, or Sevin in there with a couple of gallons of water, and leave your black valve closed until dumping, they are coming up the sewer line, it will kill them and their eggs in the tanks and up the vent...FYI Brian

We put sugar water and or White Vinigar in a mason jar and cover it with a Coffee Filter, poke a small hole in the filter so they go in but wont come out, it takes a day or so but it works for us unless you want to use chemicals where infestation is a problem, good luck. BTW we always wash our fruit with White vinigar and baking soda solution to kill the eggs on the fruit, We dont like eating Fruit fly eggs with our fruit!!

Thanks for the replies. Good advice from everyone. We haven't left the valves open, but who knows how they got in there. Love the idea about the mason jar...AND washing the fruit!

For prevention, I spread a clean cotton dishtowel over my fruit on the counter. I find it prevents the spread of the pests.
