The next time I plan on going over the bridge is at the end of October...heading to Fort Whaley for a Halloween themed weekend
We have several bus drivers/attendants who live on the Eastern Shore...they are dreading the delays that MAY occur.

My Sergeant got stuck on the Bridge with a flat tire Sunday and had a panic attack. She went nowhere for about 20 minutes and that was all it took. She was almost at the middle and we all know how good of a view that is.

Can anyone post some pretty detailed directions for me on how to get to Elk Neck from points south without going through the tunnel? TIA.

The most direct way is the I-695/Key Bridge to I-95 North.

Actually, you can't go through the tunnels with prop tanks. So you have to go around via the Key Bridge.....
95 north to 695 towards Glen Burnie/Key Bridge
back to 95 north to exit 100 (Route 272 south) to the town of North East
The park is about 10 or 11 miles down this road.
If you don't want to go over the Bridge (pay toll), you can go the opposite way on 695 back to 95 North, but it is a longer drive with more traffic if you hit it at rush hour.

So where is everyone going for labor day weekend?
We are supposed to head out tomorrow after school for the Jellystone in Luray. I hope that we can stick to the plan, but my sister is still in the hospital and not doing well and our older of the two shelties has been sick all week. So, God willing, we'll still be able to go, but who knows.
Anyone going anywhere exciting??????? Glad I'm not going near the Bay Bridge!!!

Do NOT go 695 around to avoid the toll. It will take forever.
That is my professional and RV oriented opinion.

This is the same way we go. Paying the toll over Key Bridge is worth the shorter drive...IMO.

Lledman ~ Go over the Key bridge. Will take you about 3 hours from Mechanicsville. Very easy to get to actually. Not sure what time we are leaving on Friday. Can't decide if we want our daughter to miss a day of Preschool to leave early or just wait til 1ish to leave.
