We are getting the last min prep work done before buying a new TT.
The Jayco 29 FBS is the one DW an I have decided on and have some questions about insurance. Is there any thing different about insuring a TT that we should know? Any one company better than another? What about the deductable, what is the norm for this?
After reading this form for awhile, I've learned that alot of you guys are traveling information centers. Give me some input, PLEASE.
Thanks

Don,
Start with the company that you insure your vehicles with. Give them a call, tell them what you have going, and see what they can do for you. You may find that they will insure your trailer also and give you a multi-policy discount.
Enjoy your new adventure and many safe trips to you and your family.

Our TT is insured by the same company that insures our house and vehicles. We have comprehensive and collision only. Deductible is $500 but that's up to you. You can't get liability insurance for a TT (at least not from State Farm) - it's included under the liability coverage of the tow vehicle.
I'd stay away from specialized RV insurance such as Good Sam. Yes, their 5-year full replacement cost coverage sounds good, but it's VERY expensive. They wanted almost $400 every six months. With State Farm I pay $200 a year.

Our experience exactly.
Did a lot of shopping and research before we came to this same decision.

I have State Farm on everything we own, EXCEPT our trailer.
They were way too high on it.We went with Foremost which come to find out is really just Farmers.Much cheaper and lots more coverage.

Strange how insurance works. I have everything with State Farm except my motorcycle, and for the same reason.

I have TT insurance through Camping World/GMAC. Living in the Northeast insurance is very high and I thought is was a good deal at the time.
The 6 month policy expires in November and I will be going to Progressive for less than half of what I'm currently paying.

I also have everything with State Farm including the liability and comprehensive coverage for the golf cart. Just like with the others, we also pay around $200 a year for the trailer.

We've got comp/coll coverage on our TT with USAA- we are paying $160 a year for it.
Is it better to go find a policy that pays total replacement value or at least a policy that will take your purchase price and pay that to you if it's a total loss?
Our TT is over 5 years old this year so I see that Foremost will pay you what you paid for it towards a new TT. USAA only pays what it's worth.
Which is a better deal?? Ideas? Thanks
