I have an 07 Rockwood with a Concertone system. Someone broke in stole whatever they wanted but the one thing I am having trouble replacing is the Concertone monitor. My system was the one with the tuner behind the wall and just the 20" flat screen Concertone monitor on the wall. They got the monitor and the remote which neither will be any good to them. Anyway, does anyone know if I can replace this monitor with something other than a Concertone? Will some other kind of monitor work? If so, can you tell me what kind would work with the Concertone tuner in the wall? Thank you for your time

Your best bet would be to call FR and ask those questions. Good luck (starting now)

From all the postings about Concertone problems, I'd say they did you a huge favor. I think you should be able to find a BETTER monitor/TV than replacing with the same junk brand. You may need to adapt a different TV to fit/hang on the wall but you will not have to post the same old my Concertone quit working, what should I do question.
Do a search on this forum using Concertone, after reading a handfull of the posts I think you will be convinced to buy something at your Walmart...

Sorry I posted the "same ol my Concertone quit working what should I do question" I guess that just shows that I'm a "dumb blonde". I was hoping someone could give me an idea of what I could put in there that might be compatible. I have talked with FR and I can get a replacement but they wanted an arm and a leg and was hoping maybe I could get something somewhere else for maybe only an arm. I have checked with a couple of the electronic stores but no one knows what I could use in it's place. Everyone talks about replacing their Concertone, thought maybe someone could tell me what they replaced with. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My assumption would be that any TV/Monitor with a composite video input would work with the tuner built into the concertone entertainment center. There are 3 main types of video input....composite (a single, typically yellow RCA plug), component (3 RCA plugs...which is now used on HD systems) and HDMI (High definition multimedia interface). The audio is most likely distrubuted thru the entertainment center so they may, or may not be audio outputs to the TV itself.
PC monitors use other types of inputs, the newest being DVI, or which there are several sub-types, but I dont think should be an issue with your installation.
I have the "Venturer" brand in my Rockwood, but intend to replace it with a true HD unit. The Venturer has a 16:9 aspect ratio screen, but does not appear to have an HD receiver. Hope this helps some !

Txbrooks,
I had an '07 last year and was considering changing mine out. On mine, the monitor was just a monitor. The issue being was that it was powered by the 12v connection. I could not find any reasonable alternative. You may be able to find an LCD screen and, in theory, if it has a AC to DC converter built into the cord, cut the cord coming out of the power brick (assuming the output is 12V) and put a plug onto the end of it that would match the Concertone plug.
This year we traded for an '08. It has an actual LCD TV with tuner. It is powered the same way as the LCD screen was. I've been looking again for an alternative so I could mount a larger screen, but have had no success.
You could replace the screen with a standard LCD TV with tuner. If it had audio outputs on the new flat screen, you could plug the outputs into the Concertone to use the integrated speakers. The annoyance you'd have to deal with would be that the TV would be powered by AC as they don't have the power bricks like the older units had. Thus you'd have to route your AC plug to an outlet. Which would mean shore power would be needed to watch TV (unless you install an inverter-which would be another story).
How much are they asking for the Contertone screen replacement? Since your Concertone tuner in the wall is still there, it may be easier to replace the stolen screen with their replacement.
Personally, I enjoy the convenience of using the TV without shore power. It will all depend on the situations you camp in.
Good Luck,

One solution to the 12v issue is to install a small high-quality inverter just for the TV. Check the energy requirements of the LCD and match the inverter to that. LCD's require much less power than CRT units, so that option is reasonable. Be sure to get a good quality unit, as you need a clean, stable, well-filtered 120v output for best performance.

I still think we should start a class action suit to force FR to replace these with something that works. I'm waiting on my third one right now. Do you know the name and number of the guy who stole yours? He could come and get mine and Ill let in my insurance replace it.

I'm sorry to see yet another Concertone issue. After 19 months of study and looking we had pretty much decided on the 8318 it met my weight, price and floor plan requirments but now Jayco has come out with the Jay Feather 311 and has crept into the lead. The constant problems with this concertone issue shows me that FR has not been serious about addressing what is clearly an on going problem. Added to this issue is every 8318 I have looked at in the last year has Carlisle tires on them and frankly those things scare me to death. I know some of the readers may get tired reading about the same old problems, but for those on the edge of buying every bit of information is helpful. I know there are going to be repair issues on any brand I buy...but knowing there are specific problems out there and not being addressed only narrows the field of brands. If FR loses out it can be traced back to the issues I have listed above.
