Let's clear things up.

FastGuns are the top of the line. No tools to adjust and they don't seem to rust.

Derringers and QuickLoads are pretty much the same thing except that the Derringers are powder coated and the QuickLoads have some other type of rust inhibiting surface. Both require using your original turnbuckle barrels and adjust the same was as you always have. Basically, they just replace the top hook on each turnbuckle.

The FastGuns are pricey but if you load and unload your camper they are well, well, well, well, well, well, well, worth the money.

I have the quick loads. Probably would have got fastguns if I didn't already have the turnbuckles but these work just fine and are way better than just the turnbuckles alone.

Qwikloads here for a couple years,I haven't had a problem with them, paid $99, guess the price is dropping.

This is an interesting subject as I have wanted to move up to something better (or at least easier) over my Happijac turnbuckles. One of my concerns has been with the double nut set-up on the standard turnbuckles. Although I have been real careful (and lucky) so far, I can definitely see the potential for whacking my truck when trying to apply sufficient torque with two open-end wrenches to break the nuts free from one another (especially for the two front turnbuckles).

While I have heard a lot of good things about Fastguns (including in this thread), I have to admit I like the much lower cost of the Qwikloads. And since they seem to work OK (and are an improvement over the standard turnbuckles), I am likely going to go with Qwikloads.

Had 'em both. Much prefer the Fast Guns. Sturdier, no wrenches to adjust, however, more money.

Been there, done that, replaced the Happijack turnbuckles with the FastGuns.

I also had warranty issues with Happijack after lightly oiling the rear turnbuckles -- the rubber inside one failed. Happijack was going through a change of ownership, so the timing may have been poor.

But the best thing about the FastGuns -- no tools needed, period. Installation/Removal/Adjustments are quick and easy.

I find the wrench tails interesting ... I run my HJ's hand tight and have never had even a slight problem... That being said, mine HJ gear came with the TC, though my pre-purchase list had picked the TL line of tie-down accessories. Guess it will take me a few more years to find issue with the Qwik-Loads...

You need the wrenches for the jam nut.(opposite the index finger knuckle in the picture)

After the jam nut is loosened, you can easily adjust the barrel tension by hand. And then you cinch the jam nut back down to keep the barrel from turning and loosening.

All three of our campers have shifted a bit after a bumpy road/trail. Furthermore, I never took the time to mark which turnbuckle goes on which side, so I always end up adjusting them for the proper spring tension. It's just become part of my routine for loading and rest stop vehicle checks.

*ON EDIT* Added Happijac's picture
