I just bought a WR250R. I do not expect it to be too small for me. I considered the XT250 but DS talked me into the WR250R.
I will be 55 real soon now.
When I was 16 I crashed a friends Honda 350 Scrambler. I was going too fast to make the corner at a T intersection and I jumped the curb and crashed on the lawn.
The next time I rode a motorcycle was two years ago. My son was storing a friends 2 stroke Yamaha, TTR 125 I think, at my house. We went to the local park and I rode for the first time in nearly 40 years.
DS (25) has been racing mountain bikes since he was around 14. These days he competes well enough in the pro class down hill that he gets free bikes, but not much money. He also has a Honda 450 dirt bike he bought a few months ago.
So this past Sunday DW and I bought some toys so that we can have quality family time together. I have the WR250R, DW bought a Polaris X2. We also bought a Polaris Scrambler 500 so that DD (27) and friends will have something to ride.
I do not have a toy hauler. I plan to get a flat bed trailer, probably a 12 footer real soon now. I can put a flat trailer in the side yard. The Trailmanor folds down and goes in the garage. I would need to store a toy hauler across town.
What recession? I am doing all that I can to jump start the economy.
I got my motorcycle permit today. It took me two trys to pass the written test. I plan on taking a CHP sanctioned motorcycle safety course next. My body can't afford to learn the old fashioned way.
I will sometimes use it to ride to work, 10 miles one way on a 45 mph farm road with no traffic. Will also be used off road when camping, mainly fire roads and a few jeep roads. I do not expect to ride on any single track.
DS says he wants to get his license. That way when we go camping he and his girlfriend can go for a road ride.
If I was 15 years younger, I would probably want a different bike. I I didn't wait until I was 55 I would probably want a different bike. As it is the bike is a little tall for me. So Ds is going to drop about 9/10 inch out of the suspension for me. If that isn't enough we can shave the foam in the seat, but I do not think that will be necessary.
