We just talked to some other people in the park and they said that Farmers Insurance and AAA will now ensure vehicles in the state of” Sonora” only. It was our impression that no American insurance companies would issue insurance in Mexico. Also we have heard that Mexico will not recognize any American insurance company.
I'm curious if anybody else has some more current information on this, as we would like to be insured by an American company opposed to a Mexico Co..

Several American Insurance companies will insure in Mexico, but for "physical damage only". American Insurance companies are not allowed to provide "liability insurance" in Mexico. Our insurance company provides us with coverage throughout Mexico, with a simple rider on our existing US policy, for $5/yr extra. It saves us over $2000/yr, from when we had to buy separate coverage every year. Now we just purchase liability for a very reasonable amount and we're fully covered throughout Mexico.

You can check AAA rates online. We had to renew our Mexico Insurance last week. AAA was not competitive so went back to our old Company, ACE. We did up our liability coverage this year on the advice of posters on this forum.

Rocmoc: Does ACE sell a combo policy (US and Mexican comprehensive) or is it just Mexican. I have Costco for US insurance and Vagabundos for Mexico. I'd be interested in making things simpler.

I spoke with my Farmers agent here in Colorado Springs and he said; "Absolutely not, Farmers does not insure vehicles in Mexico." If anyone has confirmation and documentation that I can point my agent to, I'd appreciate it.

We'll probably purchase insurance for our trip to Rocky Point from one of the online companies.

Thanks for the stickies and the replies about Mexico insurance.

If you don't get your insurance online you will have no trouble finding plenty of places 7 days a week in Ajo or at Lukeville before you cross the border that sell Mexican insurance policy's.

Enjoy your stay in Rockypoint!

Thanks. We bought Progressive for the motorhome and they have comprehensive coverage in MX. We bought the liability from Marty at Ada-Vis Global. $58.

For others, I also learned that Ada-vis and Vagabundos don't insure any motorhome above $150K for your standard policy. Marty guided us to National Interstate and Progressive.
