Again, not true. There is an additional leaf spring on the rear axle of the 350 which accounts for the capacity difference.

My truck has the camper package so it has the exact same spring set up as a F350. The only difference was the overload spring and I have it. Again my truck rear end is just like a 350 with a 2 inch block instead of a 4 inch block.

Well thanks for all the good input although some of it was above me. We ordered the F350 last night after looking at specs and driving both. It was just about $500 more. Now just need to sell the F150 but we've got 12-16 weeks before the new truck arrives. Might have to cancel our Thanksgiving week at Kern River if we have no TV by then....again, thanks for all the opinions!

There is a slightly larger diamater rear axle (rated higher) with one additional spline in the F-350.

Part numbers for rear axles for both the F250 & the F350 are the same. If you are referring to the ford vehicle specs it was determined there is a misprint in the specs in relation to the rear axle spline number and size of the SRW axles. They are the same for both models. This info. from a Ford parts dept. manager who posted on Ford-trucks.com last year.

All else being equal, and only $500 more for the F350, I'd get the 350. The additional payload and rear spring would be nice to have. It may also have a higher resale value.

What he said...

For what it is worth, I agree with both.
