Two more volunteer firefighters here.
DH is the Deputy Chief; with (I think) 13 years on.
I am a Firefighter, Public Educator and the Secretary. I have 7 years on.

We're still loving it.

howdy,
25 years in the biz, 18 years at current dept. in the drop in 4 years.
like the comment about life after retiring from the FD. Several of our guys don't grasp the concept.

Evidently, not everyone has heard...

Retired firefighters can deduct the cost of their health insurance premiums from their taxable gross income on their income tax.

On the job 15 years, Lt./Paramedic for Mansfield Fire Department...8 years to retirement! DW says I won't do it, but I see "full timer" in my near future. I just have to figure out how to do that with a child not in college yet.

See ya in the camp grounds! QT2

I had originally responded on the 1st page of this thread back in October. Since then I have had to put in my retirement papers, I am having a Cervical Fusion in a couple of weeks and then I get to have a Lumbar Fusion.
I always thought hard work would pay off.
I wouldn't change anything, it is the Best Job in the World!! Hopefully the Doc says I made a miraculous recovery and I can pull the retirement papers.
