I wouldn't change anything, it is the Best Job in the World!! Hopefully the Doc says I made a miraculous recovery and I can pull the retirement papers.
Litch I had to go under similar conditions after 33 years in the service. All it took was one real rough rescue to put me out to pasture lol, but it was a good save and I survived so it was worth it. Just glad it didn't happen early in my career. Not to worry brother, retirement isn't all that bad. Hey my son is as Lt. on my old truck company and I was able to go do a 48 hours shift ride-along with the crew on Christmas. Man that was a shot in the pants buddy! Guess where I sat lol? Yep they had my old seat reserved for me. I had a blast! Hang in there and please keep us posted. We'll all hold good thoughts for ya brother!

Thanks Tony, realy appreciate it. I have been staying at the firehouse when i go down for Doctors appts since I live so far away. I thought with the tones going off all night, I would realize it is not so bad not being there, WRONG! I haven't lost much though, being able to keep up with the banter around the table in the morning. Wow, never thought I would miss it as much as I do, hopefully I will get back, but if not, it was a great ride.
Thanks for the good thoughts. I got a PM from a retired LA County Captains wife who put me in touch with her husband, he had the same surgery I am having. It really was good to hear a success story from someone who just went under the knife last month. We really do belong to a great brotherhood, makes me proud to be a Fireman.

Hang in there brother! We're all behind ya! Keep us posted as you are able. You'll be fine. Those Tahoe area boys are a tough breed! They have to be to live in that area in the winter.
Just a little humor. I had to go through some PT for my back recently and was doing some exercises and the gal set the timer next to my head and when it went off it sounded just exactly like my old pager did and I almost flew off the table lol. Everybody looked at me like I was nuts lmao! Too funny! Hang in the bro!! We're all cheering for ya! Glad you also got in touch with the LACOFD Cap too! Good bunch. that's where I got my start.

I am not a fire fighter, just a grateful civilian who wants to say
THANK YOU ALL for your service and dedication. Hope to see some of you at the campground.
