So I was washing my car a few weeks ago and noticed that the PUP had some dirt on it. Not thinking, I turned the hose on the PUP. Hose nozzle was set to 'power wash' and the edges of the top vent just disintegrated. I think I still have a seal, but I'll need to replace it. Is this something that's easy to do? I'm fairly handy for a city slicker but would rather defer to the professionals if there's the possibility I could do real harm.
There seems to be a batch of vent lids out there that after several years' exposure to sun have become very tender. I had one disintegrate on the highway last spring and the other one wasn't looking too great, either. Because at my age I'm all done going up on the TT roof, I had them both replaced while in for other service. The total labor time was 20 minutes, so I don't believe replacing vent lids is rocket science.
