Anyone think we will encounter bad driving weather in Gettsyburgh this time of year and also are campgrounds open all year? We have a "fly on the wing" trip or aka "spur of the moment" for next week and thought this area sounds like an interesting place to visit.

The weather is just starting to feel like fall. Better check the campgrounds for availability.

If you're talking about Gettysburg PA, the weather should be around highs in the mid 60's and lows in the mid 40's. Real nice fall weather. Not sure of the campgrounds are open all year round, but they should certainly still be open. I'm around 45 minutes south of Gettysburg and this weekend the high will be in the low 70's.

Sometime in October is Apple Festival time in the Gettysburg area....usually the CGs are packed for that week.

This is an ideal time to visit Gettysburg. The weather is still mild with cool overnight temps and pleasant fall days. Also, during the week the crowds are at a minimum. Back in 2003 we stopped at Gettysburg this time of year. Click here and then scroll down the page to see some pics of Gettysburg. Hope this helps some.

We just visited Gettysburg and stayed at Drummer Boy Campground. Anytime after Labor Day should be a good time to visit there. For weather you can go to the Weather Channel, www.weather.com, and type in the name of any town to see the weather. Be sure to spell it correctly or, better yet, use a zip code.

We have visited several times in late April and find it ideal. No crowds anywhere and the leaves are still just coming out, making for fine unobstructed vistas.

Just left Gettysburg on Friday. We stayed at Gettysburg Campground for three days. The weather was HOT the first two days we were there and around 65 the last day. Gettysburg Campground was wonderful, we never stayed at a private campground and were pleasantly surprised. The owners were very helpful and willing to accommodate us when we asked to stay an extra day so we could go to visit Washington DC. We had to move sites because the one we were on was reserved and they let us park the Rv in the front parking lot while we went touring. We were able to see Gettysburg, Harper's Ferry, and Antetim as well as a quick tour of Washington DC. Fall is our favorite time to camp anywhere!

Apple Festival was this weekend, we were in that area yesterday visiting friends and you wouldn't believe the traffic.

Apple Festival is the first and second weekend of October every year. This was our first year going to it and we had a blast. We are so hooked. Gettysburg Campground was very nice also.
