We traveled the Trace this year. We stayed at one Thousand Trails park. You can read about our trip on our blog. We had a great time.

There are several Mississippi state parks along the way. We found them quite nice.

I drove the Trace last week and stayed at Davis Lake, a newly renovated NFS CG with W/E hookups. River View RV Park in Vidalia, LA across the river from Natchez was also a great place.

We drove the Trace in September. Pick up a park map as soon as you get on the Trace - you can also see map on-line (just Google "Natchez Trace")- there are three no cost sites (and no services/hookups) just off the Trace with 20 - 30 campsites each - only 2 or 3 sites were occupied. Otherwise - there are a number of state parks and commercial campgrounds off the Trace. Jean and Jan in Colorado

Two Mississippi CGs come to mind they may ffit your needs --
Natchez State Park just out of Natchez. Has water and electric hook ups and a dump station. Nice park with, duh, lots of trees and moderately well spaced sites.
Grand Gulf Military Monument State Park near Port Gibson. Really neat CG at the location of the battle of The Grand Gulf during the civil war (or as the locals call it, the "War of Northern Aggression"). Two camping areas, upper, which is older but site spacing is better, and Lower, which is newer but a bit tighter between sites. Both have full hook ups and level concrete pads. The park has a small but fun Civil War Museum, great hiking/biking trails and an observation tower that gives and impressive view of the Mississippi River.

We spent abut 10 days driving up the Trace back in the Spring. It's a great trip, and there are a number of camping spots on or quite near the parkway. Some are even free! I've posted some pix and a log of our trip on my web site (see signature below).
Enjoy,

Thanks everyone. We have been waylayed for a while due to the very bad weather that is coming through the SE, but will be on the road tomorrow hopefully. DW is looking forward to this trip and your post have helped our planning.
