Thank you for that information, mapguy. I've been using GPS for a long time, but relatively new to Google Earth, so that clarified things for me.

I'm a dangerous man. I just took some coords given to me by a friend and hand translated them into decimal minutes to punch them into my GPS. Seems to have worked flawlessly.

I ought to be able to get good and lost now!

I don't know what model GPS you have but I can set mine to enter either decimal or DMS. I have a Nuvi 660. I also have a claculator that converts between the 2.
