I don't understand the posts about upgrading the tires. If you put on 1-ton tires with their corresponding air pressure (you'd have to check on the maximum wheel air pressure, too), you'll be half way to having a 1-ton ride. That seems like the whole point of the post - needing a soft ride. P tires are more likely to provide that, no?
I'm with you all the way... That's why I have my Silverado. When I was ready to buy a new TT I seriously debated on heavier but I love the ride. So bought an ultra light TT. I have a friend who has the GMC 3/4 ton and it rides like a rock, especially unloaded.
Maybe we 1/2 toners should start our own forum so all those 3/4 toners and up (I know, I know, they aren't really 1/2 or 3/4 ton--that's old nomenclature)won't be on our case all the time!! LOL

Nice looking truck Kenny but think the 2500HD might have had too much air in the tires. They want you to run 80 psi in the rear even unloaded or the tire pressure monitoring system will set the light. Glad the dealer worked with you and hope the truck is what you need.
That would be my bet...80psi in a unloaded truck will ride like covered wagon! I run 45psi(cold) 50psi+(hot) when not 5er pulling. While it's not near as smooth as DW 02 tahoe, it's WAY better than 80psi. By the way my HD is a 02 also.

No one said he had to operate them at max PSI. Just because the tires are capable of 80 pounds doesn't mean they have to be inflated to 80.
For example, a 275/65R18 Range E tire has a capacity of 3415 lbs at 80 psi (way more capacity than a 1500 needs). However, if inflated to 45 pounds, the capacity is still 2310 lbs, which is well work fine for a empty half ton and he still has the ability to increase pressure as needed when towing or hauling max payloads.
