We're new to camping with our 04 Mountaineer that did not come with an oven. We've considered replacing the old microwave with a small combination convection/microwave and as others have said a toaster oven would also work if needed.

What is it about ovens? Why should state parks care??? why private rv grounds care? Is it cause of the electric used on electric ovens etc?
Please explain?
We borrowed Uncles 18 foot Aljo last week for our 6 day trip. Did not use the propane oven
because it was still warm outside. I took along my old portable electric Fabreware electric oven. Used it several times. Plugged it in and used it on picnic table or our new portable foldup and go Sams table. Wish I could find another one like it.
I keep it out in my garage and heat and bake during the whole warm season. Keeps it cooler in house. My Ac bills were lower this year. I personally dont trust microwaves
Course I used the stovetop propane everyday on our trip
Now wanna buy our own TT , used one of course, at a good price
Thanks all

i have the opposite problem but i think it's my air pan i have to keep the bottom of everything gettin burnt. it's a real tight fit and i think it traps most of the heat below the wire rack it's on.
need to find a smaller one or maybe a stone
I put a cookie sheet (RV size - available at Walmart) on the bottom rack beneath the biscuit pan. Make sure there is air flow around the cookie sheet. Biscuits, cookies and many casseroles have never burned on the bottom.

I have used dutch ovens for years, but I do occasionally like my camper oven when it's early in the morning or wife is doing all the cooking. You can cook anything in a dutch oven that you cook in a regular oven. I have baked cakes, cookies, pizza's, casseroles, pies, stews, even made ice cream in a dutch oven.

We do have an oven and use it all the time. It is also a good heater if you need one which happened a couple times in early spring. I have an autostart furnace that does not start and have not got that fixed yet. We are getting a new overn/cooktop from my brother in law has in an old Truck camper that is in rough shape but oven I don't think was ever used. This one has a bigger overn and it is over top of the cooktop instead of under like our current one. For Pizzas we have a stone that you preheat in the oven and it works really good. I too have a cooky sheet in the iven and so far have not burned anything.

How in the world can you cook a southern breakfast of buscuits and gravy, sausage and eggs, without an oven?

Have to agree w/ Spade, for us a good breakfast includes biscuits and therefore we use our oven. However, as others have said you can use a Dutch Oven or even one of the Coleman ovens that folds up if you are cooking outside on a Coleman Stove.

I use the TT oven more than I use our home oven. When it gets chilly, it's nicer to warm the trailer while baking cookies, muffins or biscuits. One of my lazy potluck favs is to bake a bunch of potatos and supply the toppings.
We boondock most of the time and I really don't like having to haul a generator around just to run a microwave.

We have one, but have never turned it on...my kids would rather cook outside over the campfire.
