Hi all, I't been some time since I've been here, but a I am looking for some input.
We have been looking at the KZ 38P, Heartland Cyclone 4012 and the Forest River XLR 39X12.
They all have what we are looking for...floorplans, duel pane windows, trail-air, electric awening, options, etc.
And, they all seem to be priced about the same...55-58K with all the forced packages and our options... after 25-30% off MSRP.
The folks at the RV show in Pamona, CA all made us feel welcome. And, be reading the comments on the forums here, all have very good reputations.
Any advice?

We are in the same boat. Narrowed it down to the Cyclone 4012 or the KZ 40P. Bottom line is the KZ had a better floor plan for us. It is even 4k more than the Cyclone. FYI the KZ is going to cost 51k FULLY LOADED and the Cyclone was going to cost 47k FULLY LOADED. You must do your homework if you are paying more.
Now the bad news. The Cyclone seems to be the better unit on paper if you like the floor plan, but after reading the forums you will find lots of unhappy customers with the Cyclone.
More importanly look at both websites. Bryan Donet is the OLD product manager for Cyclone (helped design the unit and is on the video on their website) is now the product manager for KZ. I figured all of this out at the RV show (Bryan was there, but did not tell me this I figured it out on my own).
I really believe the KZ unit is better in the long run. Look at the other posting I put about KZ in this forum. It had about 18 replies from owners.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the replys...it's a little bit harder of a decision that I thought it would be.
As for the price...we added the Duel Pane windows, Electric Awening, Trail-Air, Extra video survalence, etc. which are not on the "regular" list of "options" for each brand. For example: Heartland does not show duel pane windows in its option lists, but they are avaiable. Forest River does not show video survalence...but they can do it. That brought the prices up some more.

It gets harder once you have it and try to squeeze in all the places you want to see.

We have the KZ40RLN and absolutely love it. Our friends have a Forest River 5th wheel (not toyhauler) and have had absolutely no problems with theirs. We had a piece of **** bumper pull from a local manufacturer and they had to put new roof on because when they had to put in a brace (that they left out in the building of unit)the staples went through the roof! Everytime we took it out we were bringing it straight back to dealer and then to manufacturer for work.
We have had no problems what soever with this KZ.

Have you looked at the Jayco Recon? We have looked at sooo many haulers. I have heard many stories about the Forest River axles and they aren't good. Check out the Recon. I think after looking at the Cyclone and all the KZ line, that's where we heading. I do wish I there was a Alpenlite Defender dealer on the east coast. It has the 2nd bathroom in the cargo. Oh well...good luck!

I have a Forest river Sierra Sport F 40 SPTS. I wish i would have waited to buy the KZ...
I jumped the gun and got a lemon. It was in the shop 5 out of the first 7 months i owned it...
Its been pretty good for the last 7 months.. The last issue I had was tires, lousy 15".
I just bought 7 new 16" rims and tiires and I'm putting them on tomorrow.
Anybody interested in 7-15" Aluminum modular rims w/ Maxxis tires load range E?? 6 lug on 5.5
